Muchas gracias for checking out my blogsite.
...Sam,
Muchas gracias for checking out my blogsite.
What you say about pruning rediscovered old (formally cringeworthy?) stuff also holds true for me. Earlier this year, I pulled out something I've tried several times to get published, but to no avail. I ran it through the self-critique process again, and sent it out one more time again. This time, I got a nibble, which eventually became acceptance for future publication (soon?), after a couple more rounds of editing.
I lived in Texas for nearly thirty years. How long have you been there?
Keep taking care,
-eeduardohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04132790595670978827noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2181133247542413438.post-35256177949249464442012-11-05T09:04:54.160-07:002012-11-05T09:04:54.160-07:00I can certainly relate to this idea of finding old...I can certainly relate to this idea of finding old work and cringing, Ed. I've done it and, like you, can only justify what I wrote because someone else thought it good enough to publish. I've also discovered that some of my old work isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was and with a bit of pruning and revision it's actually pretty good. For now. Who knows how I'll feel about it when I check it out some years in the future and the "new old work" has become the "old old work" in its turn. But that's good. It means we're growing as writers. Right? Oh, I hope so!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
